This calculator is a practical tool for determining the percentage increase in a material’s length after stretching. By comparing the original and final lengths, it provides a percentage for material elasticity and performance.

Stretch Percentage is valuable in industries like manufacturing, textiles, and testing, where understanding stretch behavior is essential for quality control.

What Is Stretch Percentage?

Stretch percentage refers to the amount by which a material can be stretched relative to its original length or size. It’s commonly used in various industries to measure the elasticity or flexibility of fabric or materials such as rubber, plastics, or metals.

How to Calculate Stretch Percentage?

The Stretch Percentage measures how much a material has been stretched compared to its original length. It is calculated using the following formula:

Formula:

Stretch Percentage = [Final Length−Original Length /Original Length] ×100

Where:

  • Final Length is the length of the material after stretching.
  • Original Length is the length of the material before stretching.

Steps to Calculate:

  1. Subtract the Original Length from the Final Length to get the amount of stretch.
  2. Divide the stretch amount by the Original Length.
  3. Multiply the result by 100 to convert it into a percentage.

Example 1:

  • Original Length: 100 cm
  • Final Length: 120 cm

Stretch Percentage = [(120−100) /100] × 100

= (20/100) × 100 = 20%

Example 2:

  • Original Length: 50 inches
  • Final Length: 75 inches

Stretch Percentage = [(75−50)/50] × 100

= (25/50) × 100 = 50%

Original Length Stretch Length Stretch Percentage
40 cm 50 cm 25%
5 meters 7 meters 40%
1 foot 1.5 feet 50%
30 cm 45 cm 50%
2 meters 2.4 meters 20%
10 inches 12 inches 20%
