Are you wondering how heavy your custom glass installation will be? Whether you're designing a glass table, window, or door, knowing the weight of laminated glass is essential for safety.
This Laminated Glass Weight Calculator makes it easy to estimate the weight of glass based on its shape, dimensions, and thickness.
Simply select the shape of the glass – rectangular, square, triangular, round, or semicircular – and enter the required measurements. The calculator will instantly provide the weight in kilograms (kg), pounds (lbs), and US tons.
How to Calculate Laminated Glass Weight?
To calculate the weight of glass, first calculate its volume. Then, multiply the volume by the density of the glass. For laminated glass, the typical density is around 2.5 g/cm³ (or 2,500 kg/m³).
Formula to Calculate Glass Weight:
Weight (kg) = Volume × Density
Where:
- Volume is calculated based on the shape and dimensions of the glass.
- Density of laminated glass is approximately 2,500 kg/m³.
Formulas for Different Glass Shapes:
Rectangular or Square Glass
Volume = Width × Height × Thickness
Example:
- Width: 100 cm
- Height: 50 cm
- Thickness: 1 cm

100 × 50 × 1 = 5,000 cm^3
Convert to cubic meters:
5,000 ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.005 m^3
Weight:
0.005 × 2,500 = 12.5 kg
Triangular Glass
Formula:
Volume = 0.5 × Base × Height × Thickness
Example:
- Base: 80 cm
- Height: 60 cm
- Thickness: 1 cm
0.5 × 80 × 60 × 1 = 2,400 cm^3
Convert to cubic meters:
2,400 ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.0024 m^3
Weight:
0.0024 × 2,500 = 6 kg
For Circular Glass
Formula:
Volume = π × (Diameter/2)^2 × Thickness
For Semicircular Glass
Formula:
Volume = 0.5 × π × (Diameter/2)^2 × Thickness
