This Calculator is designed to make ice weight estimation easy. If you know the ice volume, simply enter it, select the unit (cubic meters, cubic feet, liters, or gallons), and get the result instantly.

Don’t know the volume? No problem! You can enter the dimensions of the ice cubes, and the calculator will compute the weight for you.

This tool uses a fixed ice density of 917 kg/m³ to estimate the weight of ice.

With this Calculator, you no longer have to guess the weight of ice!

Whether you’re transporting ice or managing cold storage, this tool offers fast and precise weight calculations.

Here’s an explanation of the formulas used in the Calculator based on whether the user knows the ice volume or needs to calculate it from dimensions.

If Ice Volume is Known:

Formula:

Ice Weight = Ice Volume × Density of Ice

  • Ice Volume: The amount of space the ice occupies (can be in cubic meters, cubic feet, liters, or gallons).
  • Density of Ice: The ice mass per unit volume, typically 917 kg/m³.

If the ice volume is 2 cubic meters, and you use the density of ice (917 kg/m³), the weight will be:

Ice Weight = 2 m³ × 917 kg/m³ = 1834 kg

In this case, the calculator first determines the ice volume using the dimensions of the ice cube (length, width, and height).

Formula for Volume:

Ice Volume = Length × Width × Height

Let’s say you have an ice block with the following dimensions:

  • Length: 1 meter
  • Width: 0.5 meters
  • Height: 0.2 meters

First, calculate the volume:

Ice Volume = 1 m × 0.5 m × 0.2 m = 0.1 m³

Now, calculate the weight:

Ice Weight = 0.1 m³ × 917 kg/m³ = 91.7 kg

If you input the volume or dimensions in different units (such as cubic feet or gallons), the calculator will first convert the units to cubic meters before using the formula.

For example:

  • 1 cubic meter (m³) = 35.315 cubic feet (ft³)
  • 1 liter (L) = 0.001 cubic meters (m³)
  • 1 US gallon = 3.785 liters
  • 1 UK gallon = 4.546 liters

If the ice volume is 100 liters:

100 L = 0.1 m³ = 0.1m³

Then, the weight is:

Ice Weight = 0.1 m³ × 917 kg/m³ = 91.7 kg
